Assisted Start Up Defined: An Assisted Start Up is a unit start up that is performed by the licensed HVAC contractor under the direct supervision of a York Factory Direct Technical Service Manager. The hands on “work” is performed by a capable service technician while the Technical Service Manager supervises the work being performed and records the necessary data to complete the factory start up form. York Factory Direct is not a mechanical contractor and does not hold the proper licensing and insurance to do the hands on portion of the work. Upon completion, the Service Manager will register equipment and enter start up data into warranty system.
Scheduling: The HVAC contractor should schedule the start up with no less than 7 business days’ notice to the actual startup date requested. While every attempt will be made to meet the request date; the earlier the notice, the greater the possibility of being able to meet the first requested date. Failure to give proper notice may result in an expedite fee if scheduling must be re-arranged in order to meet the requested date. There is no guarantee that the date requested will be able to be met, an alternate date may have to be chosen in the event there isn’t an available service manager.
Cancellations: Failure to cancel within 24 hours of scheduled date will result in a cancellation fee. Startups can be cancelled within a minimum of 24 hours before scheduled date with no cancellation fee.
Requirements Upon Service Manager Arrival: Upon service manager arrival there must be proper access to unit, installation must be complete (includes accessories such as economizers installed), power must be present to the unit, a qualified technician must be present with proper tools and if unit is being controlled by a controls system, there must be someone onsite with ability to adjust controls if equipment installing contractor is not capable.
