Thomas “Huff” Hoffmaster II entered into the HVAC field through the sheet metal trade over 28 years ago. He worked his way to the service side of the business and has held many positions including project manager, install manager, service manager and general manager before going to work for a major equipment manufacture as a technical support manager. From there Huff gained the attention of his employer as a notable trainer and eventually went on to be the director of technical support and training for most of the Middle Eastern states. His background includes, residential, light commercial, geothermal, VRF and ductless. When asked what advice he would like to share with the up and coming future technicians he said, “That would be two things; first is don’t just settle for making a unit run; know why it does what it does and how it does it. Then you will be able to know if it is running correctly and as it is designed to run. The second is never run around with a chip on your shoulder because sooner or later you will end up looking like a clown, remain humble and remember that there is always something you can learn from others even if it is how NOT to do something”.
